Gary D. Hoefling started working for John Deere in August of 1980 and by 1981 he was working exclusively on four-wheel drive tractors and major engine repairs. Since then he has been trained extensively on John Deere engines in both two- and four-wheel drive tractors. The Motor Works and G.H. Repair were started in 1993. The Motor Works was started as part of a north-west Iowa John Deere dealership, specializing in complete drop-in replacement and repowering for engines. In 2002, The Motor Works was acquired by G.H. Repair and moved to Spencer Iowa. The Motor Works and G.H. Repair are the fastest growing John Deere businesses in Iowa.
